Business Community Breakfast

Practical Sales & Marketing are pleased to be assisting St Augustine’s Church, Gillingham and other local churches who are the sponsors of this new Business Community Breakfast - business initiative aimed particularly at businesses within St Augustine’s Parish. All businesses are welcome to attend, whether in the parish or not, but it is hoped that retailers and corporates as well as service providers will attend. The format will be relaxed with a 10 minute business related talk and the opportunity for people to spend a minute talking about their business or simply showing off a product or distributing literature. The next meeting is on Tuesday 8th December.

The cost will be £12.50 for a full English breakfast, dress in normal working clothes, time 7.15am for a 7.30 am start, finishing at 9am or just after. The venue is Gillingham Golf Club, Woodlands Road, Gillingham, Kent ME7 2AP. If people don’t wish to have a full English breakfast Continental breakfasts will be available but only if booked in advance.

One Minute Business Presentations

Each business attending is encouraged to deliver a brief one minute introduction presentation of their business offering.  Businesses are also encouraged to bring marketing materials together with plenty of business cards, in order to network in the break out sessions.

Tim is a local Optician using a bit of showmanship to make the point that they have advanced optical equipment that can unlock any hidden problems with our eyes.  Apparently they hold the key.

 

EYE FOR BUSINESS by Tim Bowden

A well presented 10 minute presentation by Tim on the legal requiremenst for an employer for the care of staff in a business.   Any operating a VDU needs to have regular eye checks every two years, for which an employer must pay for the test and a contribution otwards any need for glasses to operate a VDU.

St. Augustines Church have long felt that the community need to support one another.  The church also felt they needed to play their part, so in the interest of serving, they took the initiative and organised a local community breakfast, which in conjunction with Practical Sales Ltd decided to call the 'Business Community Breakfast'. 

The first event in November 2009, was such a good success the businesses present, encouraged the church to continue.  However, it was felt that in order to not conflict with other existing business networking meetings in the area, the meeting day would be changed from a Wednesday to the second Tuesday in the month.

"The meeting is designed to make others in the business community aware of what other businesses in the area do, to establish a better understanding of the community in which we’re all based and improve the ways in which business with the community and with each other is done."
